Description

The Lower Columbia Community Health Centre (LCCHC) in Trail is looking for a Family Physician to locum with our dynamic, interprofessional, and community-engaged team this September. LCCHC is a non-profit, community-governed organization offering team-based primary care. Our team includes 2 Nurse Practitioners, 5 Family Physicians, 2 Social Workers, 2 Registered Nurses (RNs), and 5 Medical Office Assistants (MOAs), and is supported by a leadership team including an Executive Director, Medical Director, and Clinic Manager. We are expanding to include a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN), a physiotherapist, and two community outreach workers. Through the Kootenay Boundary Primary Care Network, we also benefit from access to occupational therapy, respiratory therapy, pharmacy, dietetics, and an Aboriginal Health Coordinator. Physicians are supported to work to their full scope, while administrative tasks are minimized to prioritize direct patient care.

LCCHC is a University of British Columbia (UBC) teaching site, with opportunities to precept Family Medicine residents and 3rd-year medical students through the Integrated Clinical Clerkship.

Located in the heart of the West Kootenays, Trail offers a unique balance of lifestyle, recreation, and community connection. The mighty Columbia River flows through the city, offering stunning waterfront views and year-round opportunities for walking, fishing, kayaking, and riverside relaxation. With world-class skiing at Red Mountain Resort just minutes away, extensive mountain biking and hiking trails, and an abundance of lakes and rivers for paddling or fishing, outdoor adventure is always within easy reach. Trail also boasts a vibrant arts and culture scene, an aquatic centre, arenas, and strong community spirit that make it easy to get involved and feel at home. The region features affordable housing, friendly neighborhoods, and convenient travel through local airports in Trail and nearby Castlegar, with daily flights to Vancouver. Whether you’re raising a family, building your career, or seeking an active, connected lifestyle, the Kootenays offer it all.
