Dr. Ali will assume the position of President-Elect at the conclusion of our AGM on June 22, 2022.
I want to be of service to my fellow family physicians across British Columbia.
I know what it’s like to practice on a remote island and in a busy suburb, and I am able to bring that real-life experience to the board room (or Zoom meeting) to improve family medicine for my colleagues and for our patients. I am infinitely curious and am able articulate fresh ideas. My experience at various levels of medical leadership over the years has given me bravery to be bold and voice my thoughts and ideas–even when they may not be the prevailing ones.
I want to turn family medicine into a team sport, even though we practice it like a solo one now. I want to help steward my profession through the most critical juncture it has faced during my twenty year career. We are not always going to agree. We are going to have difficult conversations. But at the end of the day, we will be reminded that we have more in common than we have different: a passion to provide our patients the same medical care that we would afford our own family members.
I will bring my core values of joy and service to everything I do as president elect.
