The GSPC is introducing two new fees to support family doctors providing longitudinal and team-based care. They are also expanding other fees to support family doctors providing care to patients with mental health needs and patients at risk of substance use disorder.
You can bill the new fees below for services provided on or after October 1, 2021. The fees are now active in the Teleplan claim system (Oct 5), so family physicians can submit their claims.
Brief Clinical Conference Fee: 14067
The FPSC is introducing a new brief clinical conference fee (14067) to support you in having clinical discussions with other doctors and/or allied care providers. The new fee complements existing conference fees such as 14077 and 13005.
This fee is payable to the family doctor who is most responsible for the patient’s longitudinal primary care and has submitted and met one of the requirements below:
- Community longitudinal family physician (CLFP) portal code (14070)
- Locum CLFP code (14071)
- Long-term care portal code (14072)
- Registered in a FPSC maternity care network (14010) or a FPSC unassigned in-patient network.
It is payable for two-way case conferencing between the family doctor and an allied care provider and/or another doctor that is done by telephone, videoconferencing, or in-person. This is intended to fund the time that you spend on conferences that are less than eight minutes in duration.
For two-way conferencing longer than eight minutes (majority portion of 15 minutes), doctors can bill 14077, if it meets the fee criteria. For advice given in response to an enquiry initiated by an allied health care worker about a patient in community care, doctors can bill 13005.
The fee has a value of $18.22. It is payable to a maximum of 150 times per doctor in a calendar year.
Patient Intake Fee: 14041
The FPSC is introducing a new patient intake fee (14041) for confirming the addition of a new patient to your panel. The new patient intake fee can be billed within the first three months of adding a new patient to your patient panel.
In order to bill 14041, you must confirm the longitudinal doctor-patient relationship through a standardized conversation or compact. The fee is payable to the family doctor who will be most responsible for the majority of the patient’s longitudinal primary care and who has submitted and met the requirements for the community longitudinal family physician portal code (14070) in the calendar year.
This fee has a value of $15.
