I’m looking for a lovely locum to cover a maternity leave (flexible depending on availability 6-12 months) from March 2025 onwards in a shared care population based full scope family practice. Your practice share partner is Dr Carolyn Feeley, a kind, approachable, and knowledgeable FP 7 years out from residency.
The VFPC was traditionally one of the academic teaching clinics for UBC medicine and many of the other physicians are passionate about teaching and knowledgeable with a good collegial spirit making it a great place for potential new grads with a shared charting room and lunch room.
The clinic is population based funding (you would be paid on a sessional/daily rate) with flexibility to be slightly longer or shorter appointments as you deem necessary.
We do care for newborn to geriatric ages with a good variety in our clinic of bread and butter visits, chronic disease management, well children, procedures (paps, IUDs, biopsies). We have a visiting psychiatrist that takes internal referrals and will help provide shared care for mental health concerns with a referral. We are incredibly lucky to have an excellent clinic manager who organizes everything well and a staff that are very responsive and responsible so you can be confident in delegating tasks with clear communication back from them, along with a staff member dedicated each day to prepping anything you might need for paps, procedures, vaccines, biopsies, etc to save you time.
We use the Telus CHR EMR - available online from anywhere, no VPN, e-fax straight to pharmacies, and ability to message patients eg. for non urgent small results you might wish to inform the patient of without taking time to call such as low ferritin etc.
If you are interested in a partial coverage, several months at a time would be considered as we could potentially get 2 separate locums. Current schedule is 2 half days per week (currently both on Monday) with covering labs also on Tuesdays but this can be altered to 2 half days on any combo of Mondays, Tuesdays, or Thursdays if preferred. Remuneration is $750/half day + $200 for a day of covering labs if you are not otherwise in the clinic that day.
