Family Physicians Needed in Squamish, BC

Love where you live! There are both locum and permanent opportunities for family physicians in Squamish, BC, in the beautiful Sea to Sky Corridor. Squamish is a growing community of over 20,000 nestled between the end of Howe Sound and the Coastal Mountains. It is a mecca for outdoor recreation, including world-renowned mountain biking, climbing, kite surfing and skiing.

Squamish family physicians enjoy a mixture of clinic based and facility-based work. There are three family practice clinics in town and a walk-in clinic which is jointly operated by our local family physicians. Most physicians provide inpatient care at Squamish General Hospital. There are also opportunities for family physicians in our obstetrics group and our emergency department. Other areas of practice include sports medicine (Sea to Sky Orthopaedics), addictions medicine (OAT Clinic), palliative care (Whistler Blackcomb Foundation Sea to Sky Community Hospice), long-term care (Hilltop House Long-term Care Facility), oncology, surgical assist and anesthesia. Our community is supported by local psychiatrists, obstetrician/gynecologists, pediatricians, and orthopaedic surgeons. Visiting specialists include general surgery, internal medicine, geriatric medicine, endocrinology, neurology and rheumatology. Family physicians are also invited to be involved in our local Division of Family Practice and Facility Engagement Committee.

Squamish General Hospital is a small community hospital with 16 inpatient beds, 2 operating rooms and an 11 bed emergency department. We have a very busy obstetric service for a community this size with over 400 deliveries a year.

Each of the three local family physician clinics has capacity to add to their group. Current specific community needs include:
- Family physicians with family practices
- Family physician with special interest and training in sports medicine to work with the Sea to Sky Orthopaedics multidisciplinary group (CASEM diploma an asset)
- Family physicians to join our obstetric group
- Family physician interested in oncology
- Locum physicians

Qualifications:
Hold or soon to attain Certification in the College of Family Physicians (CCFP).
Hold or eligible for full license to practice medicine in BC.
Good standing with BC’s College of Physicians and Surgeons.
Hospital Privilege is an asset.
Provisional license eligible applicants are welcome to apply.
