Second Avenue Medical Clinic – PRINCE RUPERT

This Family Practice is made up of about 800 patients. We work under the Longitudinal Family Practice (LFP) payment model. You would be able to set up the volume of patients you see to suit your practice style, and you can work as much clinic as you like.

We do manage our own inpatients, so there is a component of hospitalist medicine. We are looking for coverage from now until November, 2024. There is no strict minimum time commitment, but ideally a locum would commit to a couple weeks at a time.

If interested, you would also be welcome to pick up ER or OB shifts.

The ER sees about 22,000 visits per year. Shifts are 8 hours in length and are covered by a single physician. There is 24/7 lab, CT scanner and x-ray available. Ultrasound is available during weekday business hours, and the department has a POCUS. We have on-site Internal Medicine support 1 week per month. We have two general surgeons, an Orthopedic surgeon and an OBGYN. An 8-hour locum shift is currently remunerated at about $3,000.

As for OB, our site does about 170 deliveries per year. We have 24/7 high-risk back-up from either an OB-GYNE or a FP with C/S skills. A 24-hour locum shift is remunerated at $1245 + $650 on-call stipend.
