We are currently seeking a skilled and compassionate Medical Doctor with experience in both addiction medicine and family medicine to join our team on a locum basis for the month of February 2024.
Position Details:
Job Title: Locum Medical Doctor – Addiction Medicine & Family Medicine
Location: Together We Can Recovery Centre, Commercial Drive, Vancouver
Schedule: 2 days/week for the month of February (specific days to be determined)
Pay: 80/20 split
Additional Compensation: Opportunity for extra on-call fees if the candidate chooses to be available for on-call coverage during the week.
Responsibilities:
Addiction Medicine:
Provide medical assessments, diagnosis, and treatment planning for individuals with substance use disorders.
Collaborate with our multidisciplinary team to ensure holistic care and support for clients in recovery.
Oversee medication coverage, monitor withdrawal symptoms, and address co-occurring mental health conditions.
Offer clinical guidance on the management of addiction-related medical concerns.
Family Medicine:
Provide general family medicine care, including the treatment of acute and chronic conditions, preventive care, and health maintenance.
Address and manage a wide range of family medicine issues while coordinating care for patients with complex medical needs.
Maintain accurate and up-to-date patient records in compliance with provincial regulations and standards.
Offer education and resources to clients and staff on managing both addiction and general health conditions.
Qualifications:
Medical Degree (MD or equivalent) with current licensure in British Columbia.
Completion of Provincial Opioid Addiction Treatment Support Program (POATSP) is required.
Previous experience in addiction medicine or related fields, including familiarity with pharmacological interventions is required.
Family Medicine experience is essential, with the ability to handle a variety of primary care issues.
Compassionate, patient-centered approach to both addiction and general health care.
Strong communication skills with the ability to collaborate effectively in a team-based environment.
Ability to provide holistic care, understanding the unique health challenges of individuals in recovery.
Familiarity with the local healthcare system and community resources is an asset.
