Oakmount Medical is located at 5264 Oakmount Cres, in a quiet residential neighborhood a few minutes northeast of Metrotown. Our clinic is proud to provide longitudinal cradle-to-grave care for our patients. The clinic does not accept walk-in patients, but physicians are free to do consultations on a referral basis. We are looking for one additional longitudinal Family Physician to join our team. Interested physicians are encouraged to come do a locum to make sure we are a good fit for each other. Our clinic’s overall philosophy is to minimize administrative burden, maximize happiness, and ensure that everyone feels part of a well-supported team. On our off days, we sometimes meet together to boulder, hike, get icecream/BBT, and dine out.
Physicians are free to choose a funding model that best suits their practice style, including the Longitudinal Family Physician (LFP) Payment Model, Fee-for-Service (FFS), or New-to-Practice (NTP) Contracts. Our physicians pay an overhead of 25% on regular MSP billings, and 10% after $340k in billings, and 0% on 3rd party billings.
We are currently staffed by 3 full-time family doctors, 2 full-time medical office assistants, and 2 part-time medical office assistants. Dr. Forson Chan is the medical director, as well as the clinic owner. The clinic has a waiting room, 4 exam rooms, a back office area for phone calls and charting, 2 washrooms (private bathroom for staff), a fully stocked lunchroom, and a beautiful outdoor patio where we gather during the summer months. Our clinic maintains strong connections with the Burnaby Divisions of Family Practice, and believes in the “Patient Medical Home” and “Primary Care Network” models of care. The clinic opens at 8:30am from Mondays to Saturdays. The clinic temporarily closes for lunch between 12-1pm, and all staff meet to eat lunch, discuss any clinic issues that arise, celebrate birthdays, and finish charting. Our current physicians work in office 3-5 days a week, but you are free to choose your own adventure and work however much or little you want.
All our doctors do their best to ensure that all our patients are seen in a timely manner. Time slots are reserved daily to allow patients to book urgent same-day appointments to see a doctor. Our doctors also cross-cover to see see urgent patients when the most-responsible-physician is absent. For non-urgent issues, we are proud that patients are usually able to book an appointment within two working days. Our after-hours line is managed by Dr Chan, so you do not need to worry about getting calls after hours.
Both equipment and staffing support is provided to doctors to perform a wide array of medical procedures including pap smears, cryotherapy, biopsies, and joint injections
Our EMR is MYLE by Medfarsolutions. The EMR is modern, fast, and well maintained. It is excellent and is the EMR of choice for all the urgent care centres on Victoria Island, and the Burnaby Divisions of Family Practice. EMR features include built-in patient messaging, online appointment bookings, advanced analytics, and PDF annotation. The clinic’s EMR is available from any computer with internet access. Physicians can make phone calls from anywhere with a stable internet connection, using the clinic phone number. Physicians are provided a private extension that they can share with other medical professionals.
