Description

Northern Health is seeking locum physicians to work in the Holley clinic and G.R. Baker Memorial Hospital in Quesnel, British Columbia. Locum travel, accommodation, and travel time stipend will be reimbursed by Locums for Rural BC.

GR Baker Memorial Hospital is a 45-bed acute care facility. Services on-site include internal medicine,
obstetrics and gynecology, orthopedics, otolaryngology, general surgery, psychiatry, and a community cancer clinic.

The Holley Clinic is a full-service family practice with a well-supported, multi-physician support system. Physicians at the Clinic provide ancillary services at GR Baker Memorial Hospital (ER, GP-Anesthesia, GP-Oncology, and GP-Obstetrics). The opportunity exists to participate in any of the ancillary services offered locally including ER shifts, should you be interested. Locums may also choose to only do anesthesia, if preferred. The Clinic is open Monday to Friday from 9am to 4pm (with a 1-hour lunch) and is currently providing a reasonable split between in person and virtual health consultations (the clinic uses Med-Access EMR). The billing split between physicians at the clinic is 75/25% for any in office work. Any services provided outside of office work may be billed privately with no billing split. The possibility of a full-time position exists for those candidates who would be interested in a position following a locum.

There are 4 FPA providers who support two local general surgeons, an OBGYN, ENT, dental surgeons, and visiting plastic and orthopedic surgeons. Call coverage for anesthesia is 1:4 and functions within a shared on-call model.

The 27-million-dollar expansion to GR Baker Memorial Hospital's ED and ICU has now been completed. This has improved patient flow, access to imaging and labs, security, privacy & confidentiality, and the alignment of critical care services and staff between the ED and ICU.

The population of Quesnel is approx.10,000 with another 13,000 residing in the surrounding area.
Quesnel offers mountain biking, fishing, hiking, cross-country skiing, downhill skiing, and much more.
