Flu Immunization Campaign Planning

Last year, 1.5 million influenza vaccine doses were administered amid the challenges of the COVID-19 pandemic. As the province begins planning the provincial influenza immunization campaign for 2021-2022, the province has set a target of providing 2.5 million influenza vaccine doses to British Columbians. Providing 1 million more doses than last year will require strong participation from family physicians and other immunizers (public health nurses, pharmacists).

The BC Ministry of Health recently released some information regarding 2021-2022 influenza immunization planning as well as some new information regarding vaccine distribution.

The 2021-22 influenza immunization planning update includes important information about:

  • Plans and expectations for the 2021-22 influenza immunization program.
  • Role of community immunizers.
  • Changes to vaccine distribution in BC.
  • Consultation on vaccine distribution for publicly funded vaccines.

There is also a vaccine distribution Q&A that provides further information.
