During COVID-19, many preventative and screening procedures have taken a backseat to the crisis at hand. One of those areas is cervical cancer prevention, screening, and treatment.
The Federation of Medical Women of Canada (the Federation) is leading a Canadian movement to put into action the WHO Global Strategy to Accelerate the Elimination of Cervical Cancer. The Canadian government endorsed the WHO Strategy and developed its Canadian Cervical Cancer Elimination Strategy in February 2020.
The WHO Strategy challenges the global community to meet the following three goals by 2030:
- 90% of girls immunized for HPV by age 15
- 70% of women screened for HPV by age 35
- 90% of women under treatment for identified cervical disease.
By joining the movement, you will get newsletters that contain a variety of information on cervical cancer and other HPV-related cancers and what you can do. You do not have to be a member of the Federation to join the movement. Help Canada achieve the elimination of cervical cancer by 2030!
