We are pushing municipalities and the province to tackle the affordable space crisis for primary care clinics. We need your help to get our message out.

We’re asking family doctors to send a letter to your local mayor asking them to support our resolution on primary care clinic space at the Union of BC Municipalities (UBCM) convention this September 22 – 26, 2025.

BC Family Doctors is at the convention highlighting the need to address the critical shortage of clinic space that is preventing family doctors from creating or expanding their practices.

We’re urging the provincial government to work with municipalities and developers to include community health clinic spaces in new developments. This would mean developers have to build clinic-ready space in new developments like large condominiums. We also want the Province’s support through infrastructure funding and other subsidies.

While the province’s new payment model has successfully added 1,000 new family doctors, many of you struggle to find affordable, suitable clinic space to provide patient care.

We can’t add more family doctors if there’s nowhere for them to practice!

How you can help:

Let’s work together to ensure healthcare space is as essential to community planning as community centres, libraries, childcare and parks!
