The District of Saanich is taking steps to improve access to primary care by exploring incentives for including medical offices and clinics in new developments. This follows the motion we brought forward at the September 2025 Union of BC Municipalities (UBCM) convention, which urged the provincial government to collaborate with municipalities and developers to incorporate community health clinic spaces into future projects.

The resolution, supported by Port Moody Mayor Meghan Lahti and Councillor Amy Lubik, was successfully passed. Saanich has since acted on the momentum created through our advocacy by initiating its own motion to examine how such healthcare spaces can be integrated into new developments.
