Driven by the urgent need to elevate awareness of rural healthcare inequities, BC Family Doctors launched the Fair Care Everywhere campaign in December 2024, at the behest of our rural members. Supported by a comprehensive suite of advocacy resources, we are proud to celebrate meaningful improvements to rural healthcare achieved through these key engagement highlights:

  • 65 letters sent to MLAs highlighting the challenges faced by rural and remote family physicians and their patients
  • 7 political meetings held with key decision-makers
  • 10+ published news items featuring rural family doctors, alongside coverage on Global News and other media outlets

By championing challenges and disparities, BC Family Doctors built strong credibility as a trusted voice in the rural communities. These collective efforts mark the largest investment in BC rural healthcare in 30 years in 2025 PMA.

As we sunset Fair Care Everywhere after near 2-year advocacy run, we would like to thank everyone who contributed to the success of this campaign. While this chapter ends, our mission continues: BC Family Doctors will keep influencing policy, representing you at key decision-making tables, and ensuring equitable access to care for rural British Columbians.
