We’re in the middle of the pandemic. For many of us, it feels like we have reached the point of no return. We cannot go back; we can only go forward.

We believe it’s not too soon to begin learning from the pandemic. We have the chance to craft our future, based on our experiences before and during COVID-19. BC Family Doctors’ new report, Reimagining Family Medicine: Learning from the COVID-19 experience, tells the story of family physicians’ lives during the first few months of the pandemic. It captures our early learnings from this unique moment in time.

COVID-19 has exposed the cracks in our primary care system. Family medicine clinics are the cornerstone of our healthcare system. The report details how six months into the pandemic, the critical role of family doctors is still not being adequately supported.

British Columbians deserve a better primary care system. BC Family Doctors will advocate to create a primary care system where family doctors and our patients can thrive.
