The Kootenay Boundary Regional Hospital in Trail is looking for locum physicians for hospitalist shifts over the winter of 2025/26. Come to enjoy a beautiful West Kootenay winter while you work in our hospitalist department!

The group consists of 3 hospitalists scheduled on 5 or 7 day rotations + a 4th hospitalist working noon-8pm. The 4th hospitalist sees new consults, helps the day team, and deals with urgent issues after 4pm. This 4th hospitalist is scheduled one to four day at a time.
We have a beautiful common office where there is always another hospitalist to chat with and where many consultants swing by so we can ask them questions. The support we get from IM, surg and ICU is great. In fact, as we work in a small hospital, the collegiality is superb.
Normally, we carry around 15 patients per day (+/- 4). This is a mix MRP for acute and sub-acute (pending LTC, post stroke, etc) and some supportive care (ex: f/u diabetes on a ortho patient).
We are concurrently recruiting hospitalists to fte vacancies (ie. permanent appointment) at KBRH , so a locum could be a great way to decide if you’d like to join our community.
