Leading foundational change through innovation and partnerships

We continue to work alongside you in an evolving, complex healthcare ecosystem to advocate for change and deliver unique initiatives. The government made clear its healthcare priorities in the January 2025 mandate letter to the Minister of Health, the Honourable Josie Osborne.

Recently, we sent a letter to Minister Osborne highlighted several of our approaches to delivering systems-based best practice in healthcare. These priorities include:

  • Virtual Care: Guiding principles for the future of virtual care, including key recommendations to strengthen patient care during this time of healthcare transformation.
  • Partnerships: At the 2025 Convention of the Union of BC Municipalities, representatives from BC Family Doctors are taking forward a Resolution to ask the province to work with municipalities and developers to include community health clinic spaces in new developments.
  • Compensation: A recent assessment of fee-for-service billing to help identify priorities to modernize, simplify and align this payment model.

New ways of thinking

More than 50% of doctors in BC are family doctors. Your voice matters. As part of meeting our commitments to our members, we are supporting the Government of BC with key information about how to level the playing field for healthcare access and a future where healthcare delivery could be integrated with new housing.

Looking ahead

Clear, consistent engagement with our partners keeps you at the forefront of healthcare discussions. We anticipate meeting with Minister Osborne at the UBCM Convention and will continue to share our progress on all fronts.
