Where can I go to find out more about the LFP Panel Payment?

The LFP Payment Model compensates physicians for their time and patient interactions, as well as the size and complexity of their patient panel (panel payment). Panel payment amounts for 2023 will be based on an interim methodology adapted from the Community Longitudinal Family Physician (CLFP) Payment to estimate the size and complexity of a longitudinal family physician’s patient panel.

BC Family Doctors, Doctors of BC, and the provincial government are working to develop a longer-term methodology to determine panel payments. This new methodology will be based on the number of empanelled patients and the complexity of those patients. We expect to start the new methodology for panel payments next year.

Longitudinal Family Physicians who successfully submitted their panel payment claim form by July 26, 2023 will receive Quarter 1 (Q1) and Quarter 2 (Q2) panel payment installments on August 31, 2023 via MSP Teleplan. Longitudinal Family Physicians who submitted their panel payment claim form after July 26, 2023, will receive their Q1 and Q2 panel payments concurrently with the Quarter 3 (Q3) panel payment installment in November 2023.

Physicians receiving panel payments for either Q1 or Q2 will receive email instructions before August 31, guiding them on how to access payment summaries for the respective pay periods. These summaries will provide a detailed breakdown of their Q1 and Q2 panel payments. If you didn’t receive the email instructions or have any questions, please email LFP.Billing@doctorsofbc.ca

Detailed Q&As on panel payments can be found in the BC Family Doctors Billing Question Library.
