BC Family Doctors is unwavering in our commitment to inclusivity, equity and evidence-based healthcare. We sincerely regret any harm or distress caused by the inclusion of Mercy Canada’s mental health program in our February e-Bulletin resource round-up. Our intent in sharing this resource was to provide information, not to endorse any organization’s broader beliefs or values. However, we recognize that the omission of a disclaimer failed to provide critical context regarding Mercy Canada’s publicly stated positions, which do not align with our principles of inclusive and affirming care.

We fully support LGBTQ+ individuals and affirm the importance of accessible, affirming mental health care for all. We are taking immediate steps to review our resource-sharing process to ensure that all future recommendations are rigorously vetted and clearly contextualized. We appreciate the opportunity to learn from this and remain committed to upholding the highest standards of inclusivity in all that we do.

We deeply value the trust of our members and the broader community, and we appreciate our members advocacy on this important issue.
