LFP Physicians and Locums: It’s time to re-enrol!

2025 is upon us! With the start of the new year, all physicians enrolled in the LFP Payment Model need to re-enrol in order to continue billing under the LFP Payment Model.

If an enrolment code is not submitted by March 31, no payments will occur until it is submitted.

Please review the below steps for re-enrolment for LFP physicians and LFP locums.

There are three steps that all LFP physicians must take to re-enrol.

1. LFP Enrolment Code

Submit the enrolment code (98000) to Teleplan between January 1 and March 31, 2025.

  • Please review the eligibility criteria, required services, and enrolment information in the LFP Payment Schedule prior to submitting
  • Full details on how to submit 98000 are contained in the Simplified LFP Guide, including the correct PHN, ICD-9, and facility number.

2. LFP Setting Registration Code(s)

Submit a setting registration code via Teleplan to register for each setting that you will bill under the LFP Payment Model:

  • 98002 LFP Clinic-based Services
  • 98003 LFP Long-term Care and Palliative Care Facility Services
  • 98004 LFP Inpatient Services
  • 98006 LFP Pregnancy & Newborn Services

Full details on how to submit the above setting registration codes are contained in the Simplified LFP Guide, including the correct PHN, ICD-9, and facility number.

3. CLFP Portal Code

We recommend submission of the CLFP Portal Code (14070). Submission of 14070 provides access to FPSC-created fee-for-service codes when providing services that are excluded from the LFP Payment Model, such as:

  • Services to residents of other provinces and territories
  • Facility-based services for settings not included in the LFP Payment Model (e.g. emergency room, FP-anesthesia)
  • Facility-based services for which a physician has not submitted a setting registration code
  • Services funded by WorkSafeBC for injured workers (e.g. mental health planning and management related to workplace injuries)
  • Services funded by ICBC related to motor vehicle accidents

Reminder: You cannot bill fee-for-service or FPSC-created codes for services that are included in the LFP Payment Model.

Full details on how to submit 14070 are contained in the Simplified Fee Guide, including the correct PHN and ICD-9.(It’s a different PHN and “patient” info than the LFP codes.)

There are four steps that all LFP locums must take.

1. Locum Enrolment Code

Submit the locum enrolment code (98005) to Teleplan between January 1 and March 31, 2025.

  • Please review the locum eligibility criteria, locum required services, and locum enrolment information in the LFP Payment Schedule prior to submitting.
  • Full details on how to submit 98005 are also contained in the Simplified LFP Guide, including the correct PHN, ICD-9, and facility number.

3. LFP Locum Registration Form

Submit an LFP Locum registration form between January 1 and March 31, 2025. This is annual requirement for locum re-enrolment.

4. Locum CLFP Portal Code

We recommend submission of the Locum CLFP Portal Code (14071). Submission of 14071 provides access to FPSC-created fee-for-service codes when providing services that are excluded from the LFP Payment Model, such as:

  • Services to residents of other provinces and territories
  • Facility-based services for settings not included in the LFP Payment Model (e.g. emergency room, FP-anesthesia)
  • Facility-based services for which a physician has not submitted a setting registration code
  • Services funded by WorkSafeBC for injured workers (e.g. mental health planning and management related to workplace injuries)
  • Services funded by ICBC related to motor vehicle accidents

Reminder: You cannot bill fee-for-service and FPSC-initiated codes for services that are included in the LFP Payment Model.

Full details on how to submit 14071 are contained in the Simplified Fee Guide, including the correct PHN and ICD-9. (It’s a different PHN and “patient” info than the LFP codes.)
