Are call-out fees billable for deliveries?
March 31, 2023

Yes, call-out fee codes are generally billable when called in to attend a patient for labour management/delivery. It is important to note that an assessment fee is not billable in addition to the delivery fee for the same patient on the same attendance at the hospital.
- Weekday, daytime hours
- If you are called in during weekday, daytime hours to assess a patient who is not fully dilated, but is in labour – 00112 is billable for that call in and assessment as long as the delivery occurs at least 2 hours later.
- If you are called in during weekday, daytime hours and immediately attend the patient for delivery (whether vaginal or C/S) – 00112 is not billable as the call-out and assessment fee is considered part of the delivery fee during this time period.
- Evenings, nights, weekends/stat holidays
- If you are called in during out of office hours (evenings, Sat/Sun/Stat or overnight), then the appropriate call-out fee (01200, 01201, 01202) is billable in addition to the delivery fee. There is no time delay required between the time you arrived to initially assess the patient and the actual delivery time.
