How do I bill in the LFP Payment Model if I provide services to residents of other provinces and territories?
April 26, 2023

Services to residents of other provinces and territories are excluded from the LFP Payment Model. MSP-insured services for out-of-province patients are claimed under fee-for-service, except for residents of Quebec. Physicians charge services for Quebec residents directly to the patient.
This includes patients who have moved to BC but do not yet have BC medical coverage. Once a patient has valid BC MSP coverage (minimum 3 months after establishing residency), you can bill for services under the LFP Payment Model.
C.11 Reciprocal Claims of the General Preamble to the Fee-for-Service Payment Schedule lists services that are excluded from the inter-provincial agreements. Physicians charge these services directly to the patient.
