Since 2020, eligible physicians have been able to receive a Business Cost Premium (BCP) on some fee-for-service codes to help cover the rising rent, lease, or ownership costs of a community-based office. The 2022 PMA broadened the BCP to apply to fees for all services provided by physicians regardless of the location at which the are delivered.

As of April 1, 2025, the new payment rules for BCP expand eligible services to nearly all fee-for-service items. BCP does not apply to the the LFP Payment Model or the Alternative Payment Program (APP).

  • Claims submitted with a date of service before April 1, 2025 will be automatically processed according to the original BCP payment rules.
  • Claims submitted with a date of service on or after April 1, 2025 will be automatically processed according to the expanded BCP rules.

For more information about the BCP changes, please review the information on the Doctors of BC website, including eligibility requirements, Facility Numbers, BCP-eligible services and other details.
