In March 2024, Doctors of BC and WorkSafeBC signed the 2022-2025 Physicians and Surgeons’ WorkSafeBC Services Agreement. This agreement provides an overall 14.5% increase for WorkSafeBC-managed fees by the end of the contract, plus another 1% in the third year if the BC inflation rate is high.
As the agreement is effective as of April 1, 2022, fees will be paid retroactively to that date. A retroactive payment will be made.
Here are the key changes that you need to know:
- You can now receive a financial bonus when you send a Form 8 electronically within 2 business days of the date of service.
- You can receive payment for up to 18 Form 11s while WorkSafeBC is deliberating on the approval of a patient’s claim.
- Fee codes 19909 and 19910 have been replaced with new fee codes. (Rates vary depending on whether the form is submitted within or after 15 business days):
- A nurse practitioner may be able to make a referral for Initial and Repeat Expedited Comprehensive Consultation.
- Referrals may be made to family physicians with areas of expertise as well as specialist physicians.
- Upon request, WorkSafeBC will consider approving one additional 19953 fee code (up to two codes total), where physicians need to spend a significant amount of time complying with WorkSafeBC’s chart note requests
All WorksafeBC rates have been updated in the Simplified Fee Guide. WorkSafeBC billing resources can be found in Practice Tools.
