Vancouver family practice Centre (W Broadway and Willow St.)
A clinic in Vancouver is looking to add physicians to their team. Currently, a collaborative group of eight family physicians and two nurse practitioners maintain their own rosters while also providing same-day access for each other’s patients on a rotating basis. Being one of a handful of clinics that are funded on a population-based funding model they offer a rare opportunity to escape the fee-for-service hamster-wheel. While remuneration overall is comparable to FFS, this funding allows for more rational care based on the burden of illness, and provides the capacity for more time to be spent with those with more complex needs. The clinic is open six days a week, and there is a requirement to be in the clinic minimum four half-days a week, spread across a minimum of three days out of the week. One of those days must be either a Monday or Friday, and at least one shift as an evening shift every two weeks. Each shift/session is three hours in length of booked clinical time. The clinic has 13 exam rooms, including a procedure room, and physicians have access to two each during their shift. Appointments are typically 15-30 minutes in length. In terms of after-hours/on call needs, there is a requirement to be on call one weekend every 8-10 weeks, and one week night every two weeks. Weekend call includes a same-day access clinic on Saturday from 10-2. This practice provides a turnkey opportunity for anyone interested in walking into a well-managed clinic that is ready to support a physician or two starting a patient panel. There are locum shifts available to try out first in order to experience the clinic and see if it might be a good fit. It is easily accessible by transit on the 99-B-line, and there is secure bike storage available in the parkade.
Remuneration: Population Based Funding Model - $500 per 3 hour session
