About the community:
Penticton is considered one of the top destinations in Canada. Lakes, vineyards, wineries, craft breweries, hiking, biking and a myriad of water sports are just some of the nearly endless recreational opportunities in the City and area. Penticton is one of just two cities in the world situated between two lakes. Beaches and water fun are part of the Summer culture here – dive in like a local and get wet. Okanagan and Skaha Beaches feature nearly 15 acres of premium, sandy beach and swimming areas. Along with all of the year-round recreational activities available, agriculture has been an important contributor to Penticton’s livelihood. There are activities for all ages. If you crave fresh fruit, there are many local fruit stands and orchards that offer public fruit picking. This region is blessed with an abundance of sunshine and the valley has the perfect growing climate for fruits and vegetables. Cherries are the first to arrive, followed by apricots, plums, peaches, pears and apples. Heirloom tomatoes of every hue and shape, fragrant strawberries along with raspberries and blueberries make appearances at markets and road-side stands. There are over 80 wineries in the Penticton metropolitan area, 6 craft breweries, 1 cidery and 3 distilleries all within easy walking or biking distance of the downtown core. The Naramata bench is famous for its wineries with breath taking views of the lake.
